Jason Banks Crowned World No.1 as His Legacy Grows at GIBC
The world of indoor bowls has a new No.1 – and he’s one of Inverurie’s own!
Following his phenomenal rise to the top, Jason Banks has officially claimed the No.1 spot in the World Bowls Series’ first ranking list of 2025. This milestone follows his historic achievements at the World Bowls Tour’s major events, where he won an incredible four titles:

🏆 Ambassador Cruise Line World Indoor Bowls Championships Open Singles
🏆 Ambassador Cruise Line World Indoor Bowls Championships Open Pairs (with Michael Stepney)
🏆 Ambassador Cruise Line World Indoor Bowls Championships Mixed Pairs (with Beth Riva)
His dominance on the greens saw him skyrocket from 24th place to World No.1, amassing 935 points—a staggering 151 points ahead of Australian Aron Sherriff, who now sits in second place.
A Historic Moment for GIBC
To honour Jason’s achievements, Garioch Indoor Bowling Centre recently renamed its indoor stadium the ‘Jason Banks Arena’. The unveiling ceremony saw Jason, club members, and supporters come together to celebrate his journey from a local player to world champion and now the top-ranked bowler on the planet.
"Jason’s journey started right here at GIBC, and his success is proof of what dedication, hard work, and passion can achieve," said a spokesperson for the club. "We hope his story inspires more people to take up bowls and be part of our community."
